Events involving school safety and security also affect the community at large and serve as a reminder that as go schools so goes the community. This can make emergency planning for schools all the more intimidating. This session will provide an introduction to emergency management for school districts, including the different phases of emergency management, who needs to be involved in the process, and the tools every district should have in their emergency management toolkit. Attendees will also receive exposure to the Incident Command System, and how it works in a school environment. Attendees will leave the session equipped with the information they need to engage in the planning process and establish the partnerships needed to maintain safe and secure schools.
